Just One More Chapter

I know it might sound corny but these are the honest to goodness thoughts that sprung up and stuck in my brain, like a Taylor Swift chorus, while shamelessly devouring this book. I couldn't stop thinking how this book was the epitome of a blossoming flower. At first it was tightly wound, not easily giving up too much information or all around feeling of the world or characters within. Then slowly, as the plot began to unfurl a dawning began.. Slowly..ever slowly...a sliver of realization here, a nugget of insight there...and as the chapters began to speak through differing POVs, the flower not only began to unfurl but to blossom and give off such a sweet scent that it ensnared me and forced fealty from me to see the book through to the end...hopefully in one sitting (time and child permitting).

While reading each chapter, I hoped that the chapters' POV I was living alongside would go on and on. Though slightly disappointed when the next chapter began, bringing on a completely different POV, I quickly found myself not wanting THAT chapter to end...what a ride! I especially liked the interplay/snarky foreplay between Safi and Prince Merrik. You could feel the heat from their very first, random encounter. This is lacking in many stories where you find yourself not only unbelieving of the attraction but totally uncaring one whit about the characters at all. Not only did I find myself falling for Safi and Merrik's characters but each and every character, including the Bloodwitch assassin, was someone I was invested in. I really loved the way women, and their ability to form meaningful lasting bonds with other women, were portrayed. Within these pages you will not find wishy washy, helpless (though sometimes) hapless damsels who either are loners or who hate other females outright. Nor will you find flat, boring, unimaginative characters and wordplay. You will not find loose, unperfected, unpolished world constructs (even though it is slow to divulge such information). You will find a well crafted, extremely addictive, excellently concluded, tale that you'd be silly to pass up. It was everything I expected it to be when I put down absolutely everything I was involved in at the moment this book was made available and set out to discover the truth for myself....which turned out to be awe inspiring love. I LOVED every word of this book and I'm already dying a little bit inside, waiting for the next book.
